5 Layering Tips (Look 94)

Layering clothes was a necessity during Fashion Week in NY. The cold was almost unbearable.
This is why I played with the "layering" trend for this look. For those who do not know, "layering" is a trend that has been everywhere lately, especially during winter.  The art of "Layering" is to play with different pieces for example; a shirt, a sweater neck "V" a parka over her shoulders and XL scarf.
The point of all this is to ensure that each of the parts work together in order to achieve a certain harmony in the look.

Mika's 5 layering tips

1 - Don't be afraid to combine things together. The whole point of this trend is play with colors, shapes and textures. At the end there is no rule as such. You'll start realizing what works and what does not.

2 - If you do not want to feel bulky I recommend you use a sleeveless turtleneck sweater so the layering effect is there but you don't look Hulk when you leave home.

3 - This trend also takes for dresses or skirts. For example, a Maxi dress with XL sweater and a bag of dressing up is my favorite choices.

4 - Combine textures and prints. Matching everything from head to toe is no longer a rule, on the contrary, combining different prints and materials will help you create a more original and fun look.

5 - If you want to give a more sophisticated touch to the look you can add a belt to the waist above the layers. Of course, these have to be very thin layers otherwise the belt will not close and you will look like Santa's wife.

I'm wearing Hugo Boss pants, blazer, shirt, handbag and shoes, Essentiel Antwerp sweater and Related Apparel coat.

XX Love, Mika

NYFW Day 1 (Look 90)

There are a few places that have the power to take us back in time and remember beautiful memories and some sad ones too. But who doesn't think that melancholy has a beautiful and poetic side too.

New York City is one of those places that gives me the "goose bumps" every time. It's a city that saw me laugh like a kid but also saw me cry a few times too. Some tears were filled with joy and some of them with some of the most important and difficult times of my life.

Long story short. I truly believe now that growing up is not an easy process for anyone. I've learned that becoming an adult takes way more effort than we thought when we were kids.
Making decisions, moving forward, forgiving, forgetting someone, loving someone, believing again, taking chances and caring about the people you love the most are just a few things that I have learned during this process.
This amazing city taught me how to live and how to survive.  I grew a lot of patience but more than that, I learn the recipe of how remain spontaneous and true to myself but careful with my decisions at the same time.

New York, It's always a pleasure seeing you again...

Xx

Black everything… NYFW (Look 74)

What a crazy last two weeks! NYFW came and went in the blink of an eye. As you may know NYC is one of my favorite cities in the world and once again The big apple exceeds my expectations. It's always so inspiring to be there despite of the crazy cold weather!

This was one of my first looks during Fashion Week wearing everything black. Simple yet elegant and best of all comfortable. It's was less than 10 min easy to throw on look before heading out the door of my hotel room to explore the city… once again ; )

I'm wearing Ralph Lauren Faux fur collar, Alexander McQueen Coat, Zara boots, Urban Outfitters bag, Levi's Jeans and vintage sunglasses.

High Line (Look 49)

This was one of my favorite looks I wore during NYFW. I loved the mix between the exoticism of the trench with the classic touch of the white shirt and the tie. This pictures were taken on my way to Del Pozo show wich totally blew my mind.

I'm wearing H&M trench, Ralph Lauren shoes, Ann Taylor shirt, Tom Ford tie and YSL clutch.

NYFW City Flower / Michael Kors ( Look 46)

During NYFW I had the chance to attend to Michael Kors fashion show. I was super excited about this collection in particular because I personally love the coolness and the feminine touch of the brand. I loved the collection specially because everything was simple yet sophisticated and wearable. The show was filled with lots of denim and A skirts with simple tshirts and masculine shirts. As usual, Kors never disappoints!

I'm wearing H&M Skirt, crop top and blazer, Aldo shoes and Michael Kors bag.
