Magic is timeless (look 97) #DISCOVERCHANEL (Look 97)

One thing that will last a lifetime, or a hundred that will last a day ...

When I was very young, my great grandmother always told me: "When you grow up, you will understand the difference between having one timeless piece of clothing, instead of a million that will last a day"

Obviously I was too young to understand what she was talking about, much less know anything about quality standard or a thing called a "brand".

Now that a few years have passed since she spoke those words to me, I understand clearly  what my grandmother was trying to teach me. It is no coincidence that today, one of my greatest pleasures is to go into her closet and take half of the things she's been collecting for years and years! Everything is in mint condition. And I'm talking about 1940s vintage pieces!

Quality is not about buying the most expensive things in the world. We misunderstand the concept. It seems that the more we spend or the more we have, is what defines who we are and therefore how much we're worth.

Thankfully, nowadays we all have the opportunity to find quality in things at prices that will suit our lifestyle.
Again, we don't necessarily have to spend our month's rent on a bag, but know that if we do, it has to be invested in something really worthwhile. We need to learn the art of "buying", "consuming" and "purchasing".

This is why this look you see here, is a great example.

I wore this look in Paris the day I had the visit to Mademoiselle Coco's apartment (click HERE to see the full story) and the fitting for the show. The truth of the matter is, that I loved everything about this outfit, but if there was something I were to spend all my savings on, it would be one thing.

The handbag.

Why?

A classic handbag like this may be the accessory that you'll wear the most in your life. Also, the fact that it will never go out of style and that goes with everything makes it even more special.
Yes, we might have to save a little bit more within a few months time, but believe me, this is an investment that will last a lifetime.

The point I'm trying to get to with all of this is, that as consumers we need to learn to find the balance when it comes to buying and spending money on clothes. Yes, there are some cool pieces that are considered more “fashionable” at a certain time or period that are not worth investing in, but on the other hand, there are some classic pieces that are versatile and timeless that because its quality and workmanship they become true pieces of art.

Stay tuned because I'll be telling you more about my visit to the Atelier Lemarié and Atelier Lognon in Paris where all the most breathtaking pleads and embroidery in the world are created.

I'm sure you'll be as amazed as I was with the meticulous process and the time and work it takes to create MAGIC.

I'm wearing CHANEL coat, handbag and sweater, James Jeans Jeans and Tommy Hilfiger sunnies.
-----------------------------------------------------------
