Red roses and lace (Look 96)

"Sex appeal is fifty percent what you've got and fifty percent what people think you've got."

There's something very interesting about the ingredients of what makes a person appealing. I’ve been thinking about this for the last month or so and here is why.

Have you ever thought about why our eyes are more attracted to certain people? In my opinion, it’s not only a matter of physical appearance, there is definitely something more. It can be the way some people carry themselves, their body language, how they express their emotions or maybe just a simple smile.

We all live under a lot of pressure. The pressure to always look perfect is ON. We are constantly forced to fit perfectly into today’s social "norms", trying to look like the “model of the year”.  Thin, but with perfect round curves, tanned, but not excessively, sun kissed hair but not highlighted, natural make up, but fake eyelashes, and the list goes on and on…

But when do these standards become the dictators of how we should present ourselves to the world? I wanted to focus on this subject because as you know, I work in fashion. I have a passion for fashion photography, I love seeing flawless models wearing the latest collections on the covers of magazines, but thanks to my blog, I was able to realize the other side of the coin. A not so "cool side", where lots of girls are over-obsessing about beauty and perfection. A perfection that is almost unreachable to 99% of the Earth's population.
Personally, I think it’s time to change some stereotypes. Feeling beautiful has become a struggle to a lot of girls. Let’s stop thinking that we are not beautiful enough and start accepting and loving what we have and who we are. It’s not only about the perfect dress, or the look, It’s about how that look makes you feel.
I’m opening up about this because I have struggled with confidence too. But at some point we have to gain it back. Be the girl or the mom or the sister that everybody wants to be when she enters a room. Buy a nice perfume that will make you feel sexier, buy some nice lingerie or wear red lipstick tonight but let's stop being afraid of who we are and embrace it. Confidence is power.

  1. Wow Michelle!! Me encanto tu post.
