Faux is the new real (Look 93)

    Photos by Theresa Balderas

As you may have noticed if you follow me on Instagram and Snapchat (michellesalasb), is that I spent almost two weeks in New York to attend NY Fashion Week.

It was an intense week and a half between fashion shows, meetings and presentations with a climate of minus 17 degrees! I lived two years in NY and I can tell you that one of the things why I decided to move out was the weather. It's insane how cold it is during January and February, especially being Mexican and living there on a daily basis.

To be honest this fashion week was a bit strange for me. It is clear that every year is different, but for some reason this season was definetly not the same at least that's how it felt. You could say it was a much more relaxed season. I do not know if it's because every year I  become a little older and I can't take the pace out to all of the events and then wake up at 7am feeling like I want to die.

What is true is that once again had the opportunity to be present in one of the most important weeks of the fashion industry and soak up everything thats gonna be coming up in the next few months.

Anyway, this look was one of the first of the week. As you can see, the key piece of this outfit was the coat which thankfully helped me with the cold.

As you may know, we live in a generation in which we must be much more aware of whats going on with the fur industry and that's the reason why I wanted to tell you that this is a 100% faux fur coat that looks as fancy and glamorous as any other real one.
I think we are a generation that must be more informed on the subject. No desire to offend anyone, I do not consider myself a vegan person or someone that does not use absolutely no leather, because as you will understand in this industry is a bit complicated, but what I can say is that in recent years I've changed a little bit my way of thinking on this subject in many ways. One of them is that the skins that I have today are 1930s vintage pieces which have been given to me. Secondly, I personally stopped buying real fur just for the sake of putting a little bit of effort and be part of the solution.
I'm not one to judge anyone but all I can say is that if given the opportunity and the desire to make the switch you should definitely do it. Remember that in the long run little things can make the difference.

Hope you like it!

Have a lovely week.

I'm wearing H&M faux fur coat, Zara sweater dress, shoes and leggings, Dior Sunglasses and Yliana Yepez handbag.
